January 25, 2005 MAKS had the pleasure of meeting the grade seven students at St. Emile School. She and the kids had a lively discussion about all sorts of topics. She was really impressed with the kids, their attitude and how much fun they were. It's obvious the teachers do an excellent job educating these kids! Special thanks to Jennifer Penner, Casey Whitfield and Rosemary Hollett for making this all possible.
January 26, 2005 MAKS had a great time meeting the Grade five students at Frontenac School. She is looking forward to receiving any opinions that the kids have about her books or other issues they will be discussing with Mr. Olafson. Thanks to Mr. Olafson for inviting her to the school.
January 29, 2005 MAKS visited Chapters Polo Park for a Book Signing. She met a lot of interesting people, including a number of teachers. She is hoping to visit them in their schools and speak to their students about Breaking News! Kids Opinions Count.
January 30, 2005 MAKS visited Chapters St. Vital for a Book Signing. A number of people stopped by to talk, including stduents she had met at some of the schools she has visited to date. It was great that they stopped by!

February 2, 2005 MAKS... that's me... received a warm reception from the students of Warren and Woodlands School. I did one of my old Blue Bomber Cheers for them... just for comic relief. I know they had to try hard not to laugh. I look forward to returning for a book signing. P.S. I want to thank the kids who emailed me. I'm glad you had a good time and that you love my books... and yes, I really did like to watch hockey and football when I was your age! And YES! I LOVE to write... especially if you love to read! I forwarded an advanced version of "What's the Skinny" to Mrs. Toews.
February 3, 2005 MAKS (I) visited the students at Shamrock Middle School. I had a great time and was impressed with how the kids totally understood the message I'm communicating in my books... that they need to form informed opinions. I look forward to visiting with the students again. And I hope they remember to let me know when they've finished the books so that I can send their librarian an advanced copy of "What's the Skinny"
February 11, 2005 MAKS visited the Grade 5, 6, 7 and 8 students of Marion School. I think there are a couple of future authors in this group... Write On kids!
February 16, 2005 MAKS visited the grade 8 students of Frontenac School. At the request of the teachers, I spoke about the media and the importance of truth in the reporting of NEWS. I hope this got them off to a good start in their media class.
February 22, 2005 MAKS visited the grade 5, 6, 7 & 8 students of Alhijra Islamic School. The students were absolutely engaging and kept me on my toes. I had a lot of fun and intelligent questions... I just hope my answers were! There are a lot of serious basketball fans and players in this school! I found out that the school is raising money to build a gymnasium and library. Anyone who wishes to donate books for the library, please contact the school.
February 25, 2005 MAKS visited the grade 7 students at Niverville Collegiate Institute. I understand that Niverville beat my old high school at basketball. I also found out some of the crazy nic names that kids have. I'd like to say thanks to Mrs. Wiebe and Mr. Clark for giving me the opporutnity to meet them and their students.
February 25, 2005 MAKS was a guest at the Red River Valley School Division's In-Service in Rosenort. This was a fantastic afternoon, not just because I met so many great teachers... thanks to Pauline's invitation... but because the Grade Twelve Students of Rosenort Collegiate who were raising money for their Graduation... donated the left over books from their book sale to the Alhjira Islamic School Library! Thank you kids and thank you Ms. Sansome for the donation. I was glad to be in the right place at the right time.
February 28, 2005 MAKS visted Woodlands and Warren Schools again, to sign books. It was nice seeing the students and teachers again.
March 2005
March 3, 2005 MAKS dropped off the books that Rosenort Collegiate donated to Alhijra School. The students helped carry in the books. I know that the teacehrs and students are grateful for Rosenort's donation and will contact Rosenort COllegiate and send them pictures of the library.
Tuesday March 8, 2005 MAKS will be at McNally Robinson Grant ParK from 7:00 - 9:00. I hope you drop in to say hello and if you purchase Breaking News! I'll sign and personalize it for you. Come On Down!
MAKS has had a great time visiting students and speaking, not only about Breaking News! but about all the other topics the kids were interested in. I learned a lot and hope to continue with the visits in the spring. Write now, MAKS plans to finish compiling the results of the survyes that the students have done and post them to the site... and then start writing book TEN! Keep on reading kids and keep on making your informed opinions count!

April 17, 2005 MAKS will be visiting a Mother/Daughter book club in St. Vital. This will be a first! I Can't wait to hear everyone's feedback and questions. AND, I understand they serve up a great snack!

May 8, 2004 Agents of Change Publishing donates 50 books to Ronald McDonald Houses and Children's Hospitals across Canada.

October 22, 2004 MAKS participated in the Manitoba SAG for Librarians and English Teachers. I met a lot of terrific teachers and librarians. It was a great day.
November 9, 2004 Chapters Polo Park is now carrying Breaking News!
November 20, 2004 On November 20th, MAKS was in Thornton Colorado at Horizon High School to support the Cheerleader's fundraising efforts. People in the area dropped by to meet MAKS and purchase a book in support of Savannah and her cheerleading teammates!
November 26, 2004 MAKS visited grade 5, 6 and 7 students at H.S. Paul Middle School in Winnipeg. We had a great time and the kids helped MAKS out by filling out her Current Events Survey.
December 8, 2004 MAKS visited grade 6, 7 and 8 students at Oak Bluff School to talk about her books, do the Current Events Survey, ask the students to help design a marketing sign for a display at Chapter's St. Vital and to get the student's help in developing a survey on Internet Use. They did a great job in her focus group. Thanks so much to the students, teachers, principal and librarian for making this all possible.
December 11 and 12, 2004 MAKS sold Breaking News! at Chapters St. Vital. She met a lot of nice people and hope all of you who purchased the book - enjoy the read!
